  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

Scale

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup sugar

2 large eggs

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ tsp baking powder

½ cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 medium apples, peeled and chopped

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

⅓ cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

½ cup powdered sugar

12 tbsp milk or cream

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a bowl, toss chopped apples with brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Mix in flour, baking powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

Pour half the batter into the loaf pan. Add half the apple mixture and sprinkle some topping. Repeat with remaining batter, apples, and topping. Swirl lightly with a knife.

Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Once bread cools slightly, drizzle with glaze.

Notes

Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor. Store bread wrapped at room temperature for 3 days or freeze slices for up to 2 months.
