Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup sour cream or plain yogurt
1 cup peeled, diced apples
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp apple juice or milk
¼ tsp cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease 8×8-inch pan.
Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and sour cream.
Add dry ingredients. Fold in apples. Spread batter into pan.
Mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter.
Bake 35–40 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
Whisk powdered sugar, apple juice, and cinnamon. Drizzle over cake before serving.
Notes
Use tart apples for best flavor. Don’t overmix batter. Let cake cool slightly before drizzling.
