- 500g all-purpose flour
- 75g sugar
- 10g salt
- 10g instant yeast
- 200ml warm milk
- 100g unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 60ml dark rum
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100g dark chocolate, chopped
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Allow to sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add eggs, softened butter, rum, vanilla extract, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and incorporate the chopped chocolate.
- Divide the dough into three equal parts, roll into strands, and braid them together.
- Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your beautiful braided brioche!
Notes
Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or butter, and enjoy with coffee or tea. Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
