A delightful braided brioche featuring rich flavors of rum, vanilla, and chocolate, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 75g sugar
  • 10g salt
  • 10g instant yeast
  • 200ml warm milk
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 60ml dark rum
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Allow to sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add eggs, softened butter, rum, vanilla extract, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and incorporate the chopped chocolate.
  6. Divide the dough into three equal parts, roll into strands, and braid them together.
  7. Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your beautiful braided brioche!

Notes

Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or butter, and enjoy with coffee or tea. Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
