A delicious and simple dish combining juicy meat with soft flatbreads, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 500g pork belly or beef brisket
  • 4 Chinese flatbreads (or pita)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Coriander or scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add the pork belly or beef brisket with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, five-spice powder, salt, and pepper into a pot.
  2. Cover with water and bring to a boil, then simmer for 60-120 minutes until the meat is tender.
  3. Remove the meat, shred it, and return it to the pot to soak up the juices.
  4. Warm the flatbreads in a pan or oven.
  5. Fill each flatbread with the braised meat and garnish with coriander or chopped scallions.
  6. Serve while warm.

Notes

For best flavor, use meat with a good amount of fat and don’t skip the ginger and garlic.
