- 500g pork belly or beef brisket
- 4 Chinese flatbreads (or pita)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Coriander or scallions for garnish
Instructions
- Add the pork belly or beef brisket with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, five-spice powder, salt, and pepper into a pot.
- Cover with water and bring to a boil, then simmer for 60-120 minutes until the meat is tender.
- Remove the meat, shred it, and return it to the pot to soak up the juices.
- Warm the flatbreads in a pan or oven.
- Fill each flatbread with the braised meat and garnish with coriander or chopped scallions.
- Serve while warm.
Notes
For best flavor, use meat with a good amount of fat and don’t skip the ginger and garlic.
