- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 cup chocolate orange chunks (or chocolate chips)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and orange zest until everything is well combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate orange chunks until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart to allow for spreading.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, you can freeze them.
