- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1-2 tbsp milk (for icing)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add warmed milk, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread melted butter over it.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar evenly over the buttered dough.
- Cut the dough into strips and stack them on top of each other.
- Cut the stacked strips into squares and place them in a greased loaf pan.
- Let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk to create icing and drizzle over the warm bread before serving.
Notes
For best texture, serve warm and store in an airtight container. Can be reheated for restored softness.
