Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast in 1 cup warm milk and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 large egg. Stir in the yeast mixture until well combined.
- Gradually add in 4 cups all-purpose flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Roll the risen dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle and spread 1/4 cup softened butter over the surface.
- Sprinkle 1 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon evenly across the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into 1-inch pieces.
- Place the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
- Whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to create a creamy icing and drizzle over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
