A cozy dessert with tender spiced apples and a crunchy oat topping. Best served warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

  • Total Time: 1 hr
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Scale

6 cups apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are perfect)

2 tbsp lemon juice

½ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp cornstarch

1 cup rolled oats

¾ cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup brown sugar

½ tsp cinnamon

½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

Preheat Oven – Heat to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Prepare Apples – Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Spread evenly in the baking dish.

Make Topping – In a bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.

Assemble & Bake – Sprinkle topping over apples. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.

Serve – Let cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use tart apples for the best balance of flavor. For added crunch, mix chopped nuts into the topping. A drizzle of caramel makes it extra indulgent.
