A warm, tender loaf coated in a sweet cinnamon-sugar crust that tastes just like a classic donut in sliceable bread form.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, mix buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.

Combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.

Pour batter into loaf pan. Bake 45–50 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.

Cool slightly, then remove from pan. Brush loaf with melted butter.

Coat loaf with cinnamon sugar mixture. Slice and serve.

Notes

Do not overmix batter. Coat loaf while warm so cinnamon sugar sticks well. Try adding nutmeg for extra flavor.
