Easy and natural DIY aroma stones made with baking soda, cornstarch, and essential oils. A long-lasting, customizable way to scent your home or create beautiful handmade gifts.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes (+ drying time)
  • Yield: Makes 10 to 12 small aroma stones

Ingredients

Scale

½ cup baking soda

½ cup cornstarch

¼ cup warm water

1530 drops essential oil (lavender, citrus, peppermint, etc.)

Optional: mica powder or food coloring

Silicone molds, cookie cutters, or ice cube trays

Mixing bowl and spoon

Parchment paper or tray for drying

Instructions

Mix baking soda and cornstarch in a bowl. Slowly add warm water, stirring until a clay-like dough forms. If sticky, add more cornstarch. Add coloring now if desired.

Press the mixture into silicone molds or roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Place shapes on parchment paper.

Let air-dry for 24–48 hours, flipping halfway for even drying. They should feel hard like plaster when ready.

Once fully dry, add 3–5 drops of essential oil to each stone. Let rest 1–2 hours to absorb fragrance.

Notes

Store aroma stones in a sealed container to retain scent longer. Reapply essential oils every few weeks as needed.
