A simple and wholesome recipe for homemade dog food using nutritious ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean beef or chicken
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup brown rice or quinoa
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen carrots
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peas
  • 1 cup rolled oats or quinoa

Instructions

  1. Cook the protein source in a large pot over medium heat until fully cooked, around 10 minutes for chicken or 15 minutes for beef. Shred or chop into small pieces.
  2. Prepare sweet potatoes and rice according to package instructions. Sweet potatoes take about 20 minutes, while rice takes about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Chop veggies and steam them in a steamer basket over boiling water for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  4. Mix the cooked protein, grains, and steamed vegetables in a large bowl. Stir well to combine.
  5. Allow the mix to cool to room temperature before serving.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze portions for later use.
