- 1 large round loaf of bread
- 1/2 pound salami
- 1/2 pound mortadella
- 1/2 pound ham
- 1/2 pound provolone cheese
- 1/2 pound mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup olive salad (chopped olives, pickled vegetables, and olive oil)
- Fresh basil leaves
- Olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Slice the top off the loaf of bread and hollow out the inside, leaving a thick shell.
- Layer the salami, mortadella, ham, provolone, and mozzarella cheese inside the bread.
- Spread the olive salad on top of the meats and cheeses.
- Add fresh basil leaves over the olive salad.
- Place the top back on the bread, cover the sandwich with foil, and press down to compact it.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melty.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Experiment with different meats and cheeses to suit your taste. Let the sandwich sit after baking for enhanced flavor.
