A warm, rich layered pasta bake combining slow-cooked meat sauce and creamy béchamel for a comforting dish.

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups Bolognese sauce
  • 2 cups béchamel sauce
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, cook until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  5. In a baking dish, spread a layer of Bolognese sauce, followed by a layer of noodles, then a layer of béchamel sauce. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with béchamel on top.
  6. Sprinkle grated Parmesan and shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

For best results, let the lasagna rest after baking so slices stay neat.
