Ingredients
4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp sesame seeds
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
½ cup fresh orange juice
¼ cup soy sauce
3 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
2 tbsp rice vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry, for thickening)
Instructions
In a small saucepan, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook until sauce thickens and turns glossy, about 1–2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon fillets skin-side down and sear for 3–4 minutes until crisp. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until nearly done.
Brush salmon generously with the orange teriyaki sauce. Let it caramelize in the pan for 1–2 minutes.
Transfer to plates, sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, and serve hot.
Notes
Use fresh orange juice for the brightest flavor. Don’t overcook the salmon. Toast sesame seeds before garnishing for extra flavor.
