A quick and tasty appetizer that looks like a mini pizza with a light, flaky puff pastry crust, perfect for gatherings or casual meals.

  • Total Time: 37 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 and 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices or cooked crumbled chicken
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the thawed puff pastry sheet on the baking sheet and gently roll it out to smooth seams.
  3. Score a border about one inch from the edge without cutting all the way through.
  4. Brush the surface of the puff pastry lightly with olive oil, avoiding the scored edges.
  5. Bake the pastry for 8 to 10 minutes until it begins to puff and is lightly golden.
  6. Remove from oven and gently press down the center area to create space for toppings.
  7. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the center of the pastry, staying inside the scored border.
  8. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over the sauce.
  9. Distribute mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
  10. Add pepperoni, vegetables, or chosen toppings in an even layer.
  11. Return the pastry pizza to the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  12. Remove and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

For best taste, serve warm. Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated.
