Ingredients

  • All purpose flour: 4 cups
  • Instant yeast: 2 and 1/4 teaspoons
  • Granulated sugar: 3/4 cup

  • Whole milk, warm: 1/2 cup
  • Unsalted butter, melted: 1/3 cup
  • Egg: 1 large
  • Pumpkin pie spice: 1 teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter, softened: 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar: 1 cup
  • Ground cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
  • Pumpkin pie spice: 1 teaspoon
  • Cream cheese, softened: 6 ounces
  • Unsalted butter, softened: 1/4 cup
  • Powdered sugar: 1 and 1/2 cups
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Milk: 2 to 4 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit briefly until slightly foamy.
  2. Add pumpkin puree, melted butter, egg, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Mix until smooth, then gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth and spreadable.
  6. Roll the risen dough into a rectangle about 16 by 12 inches. Spread the filling evenly over the surface.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  8. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for 30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  10. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then milk until desired consistency is reached.
  11. Spread glaze over warm pumpkin cinnamon rolls so it melts gently into the swirls.
