- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- In a bowl, mix the cream, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Pour half of this mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
- Dot with butter on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. Add more cheese or cream for extra creaminess. Baking with foil helps cook evenly.
