- 6 apples, peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Combine apples and water in a large pot.
- Cover and simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes, until apples are soft.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the apples until smooth.
- If desired, stir in sugar and cinnamon.
- Serve warm or let cool and store in the refrigerator.
Notes
To store leftover applesauce, let it cool completely and transfer to an airtight container, refrigerating for up to one week or freezing for longer storage.
