Ingredients
4 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free 1:1 blend)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
Transfer apple mixture to baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add melted butter and vanilla, stir until crumbly.
Spread topping evenly over apples.
Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Use tart apples for balance, or sweet ones for a richer flavor. Add nuts or caramel for variation.
